London Summer Programme

A one-week, artist-led programme for A-Level students combining studio practice, gallery visits, and artist studio access across London.

​

Three separate one-week programmes run across June, July, and August.

​

Each programme runs Monday–Friday, 10:00–16:00.

Art School Preparation & Professional Insight

Gain insight into how contemporary artists work and prepare for further study at institutions such as University of the Arts London.

Artist-Led Practice & Portfolio Development

Work closely with a practising artist to develop your work through drawing, making, experimentation, and critical discussion.

Immersive London Art Experience

Students engage directly with London’s contemporary art world through curated gallery visits, museum visits, and access to working artist studios.

Programme Highlights

The programme concludes with a group critique and presentation in a dedicated studio space at the Pavilion, Museum of the Home.

Students present their work and receive feedback within an art school-style environment, supporting reflection, critical dialogue, and the continued development of their practice.

Final Presentation

Day 1 — Studio Foundations & Orientation
Introduction to the programme through drawing sessions, discussion, and the development of individual approaches to making.

Day 2 — Gallery Engagement & Response
Visits to contemporary exhibitions followed by studio-based responses, discussion, and practical development.

​

Day 3 — Artist Studio Visit & Practice
Artist studio visit alongside continued development of individual work within the studio.

​

Day 4 — London Gallery Walking Tour
Exploration of multiple galleries and engagement with the wider contemporary art context across the city.

​

Day 5 — Final Crit & Presentation
Presentation of work and group critique within a dedicated studio setting.

Weekly Structure

  • Studio practice and drawing, including life drawing

  • Curated gallery and museum visits (venues announced ahead of each cohort)

  • Artist studio visits and professional insight

  • London gallery walking tour

  • One-to-one feedback and group discussion

What You’ll Experience

The programme runs over five days (Monday–Friday, 10:00–16:00), combining practical studio work, site-based learning, and critical discussion.

Students develop their work through a balance of drawing, independent making, gallery visits, and one-to-one feedback, building a body of work informed by direct engagement with contemporary art practice.

Class Size

Ā£595 per student (5-day programme)

A £150 deposit is required to secure a place, with the remaining balance due prior to the start date.

The programme operates across London, including gallery visits, artist studios, and site-based working.

Students will visit major institutions such as Tate and Victoria and Albert Museum alongside some of London’s most exciting contemporary art galleries, with opportunities to speak directly with curators and arts professionals.

​

The final session takes place in a dedicated studio space at The Pavilion, Museum of the Home.

The programme is designed for A-Level and IB Art students, alongside other 16+ students preparing for foundation or university-level study in art and design.
